Welcome to the Loughborough Model Flying Club.

The Club has existed in various forms and flown model aircraft from the present general location since the late 1940’s. It became Loughborough Model Flying Club in March 1980 and is the only club of its type in the Borough of Charnwood.  We are affiliated to the British Model Flying Association.

We are a friendly and approachable group of model fliers, with a number of experienced members, willing to assist others in the pursuit of the sport. We are predominately a fixed wing club, using electric and IC power. Gas turbines are excluded.

Membership is available to anyone - there isn’t any age or physical limitation to becoming a member. However there is a maximum membership of 100. The Sport of model aircraft building and flying is non-seasonal, unlike some other sports, so you can maximise the return on your investment by participating throughout the whole year. The LMFC membership fee covers one year running from the beginning of January to the end of December.

The majority of formal business in running the Club is conducted openly at our monthly meetings, such that all members are able to voice their opinions. Whilst it is not unknown for some topics to generate very lively comment and strong opinions, these open meetings are a most beneficial way in which to ensure the club fairly represents the views of its membership. The annual general meeting is held in December. For details see meetings. So why not come along to one of the meetings and let us know your views, as well as taking the opportunity to talk to other members about the more interesting aspects of being a member of LMFC i.e.building and flying model aircraft.

As a member of LMFC you are required to have Third Party Public and Products Liability insurance which can be readily obtained through the Club.

One final point to all those who already enjoy taking part in our sport, please make safety in all you do as top priority.
